Early Life and Career

Danilo Luiz da Silva (born August 10, 1983), commonly known as Danny, is a Portuguese footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or forward for Russian club Zenit Saint Petersburg.

Danny was born in Caracas, Venezuela, but moved to Portugal with his family at the age of 15. He began his football career with Maritimo's youth team before joining the club's first team in 2000. In 2002, he was sold to Sporting Lisbon for €2.1 million, but he returned to Maritimo on loan the following season.

Move to Russia

In 2005, Danny joined Russian club Dynamo Moscow. He quickly became a fan favorite and was recognized as the club's best player by a fan poll in 2005. In 2008, he made a €30 million move to Zenit Saint Petersburg, which became the most expensive transfer in Russian history.

Zenit Saint Petersburg

Danny made his debut for Zenit in the UEFA Super Cup against Manchester United. He scored the winning goal and was named Man of the Match. In 2009, he suffered a serious knee injury that sidelined him for six months.

Danny returned to the Zenit starting lineup in 2010 and scored the winning goal in the team's first game of the season. He has since become a key player for Zenit, helping the club win three Russian Premier League titles, three Russian Cups, and three Russian Super Cups.

International Career
