Early Career

Danny Guthrie began his football journey at Manchester United before being signed by Liverpool at the age of 15. He honed his skills in the Liverpool Academy and progressed to become a key player in the reserve team, where he served as captain.

Professional Debut and Loan Spells

Guthrie's first-team debut for Liverpool came on October 25, 2006, as a substitute for Momo Sissoko in the League Cup against Reading. To gain more experience, he embarked on loan spells at Southampton and Bolton Wanderers in the seasons that followed.

Move to Newcastle United

On July 11, 2008, Guthrie made a permanent move to Newcastle United. The transfer fee was reportedly around £2.5 million. Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan compared Guthrie's style of play to that of former Magpies star Rob Lee.
