Darlin De Sedl is an American jewelry designer known for her stunning and beautiful creations made from precious and semi-precious stones, diamonds, and gold. Early Life and Inspiration

Darlin grew up surrounded by wonderful objects from her father's collection, who was an archaeologist and an expert in auctioning antiques. It is no wonder that her childhood desire to create jewelry eventually led to her designing pendants, earrings, and bracelets made of gold adorned with a colorful array of precious stones.

She began designing her own jewelry at the age of fifteen, but even before then, she had gained significant knowledge about the history of gemstones from her family's store on Madison Avenue. Her father worked as an auctioneer at the 'Park Bernet' auction house, which later became 'Sothebys,' located right across the street from their family store at 574 Madison Avenue. He was an archaeologist and conducted numerous excavations in search of pre-Columbian gold in South America and ancient Egyptian treasures. His thirst for antiquities was insatiable.

Primarily, Darlin's father collected small items such as intaglios, gemstones, necklaces, ancient gold figurines adorned with enamel and diamonds, snuffboxes, Chinese medicine flasks carved from precious and semi-precious stones, carved amber pieces, not to mention a collection of shamanic masks from around the world.

As a child, Darlin fondly remembers constantly gazing at the displays lining the walls of her family's home. When the art objects completely took over her father's store, they had to give up their home. She believes that this explosion of colors and forms turned her into a designer and cultivated her sensitivity to color harmonies and textures.

Career and Design Philosophy

When Darlin ventured into jewelry design, she knew exactly what she wanted to achieve. She wanted her creations to resemble the gold of the pre-Columbian era. She desired to work with every imaginable stone, from moonstone, aquamarine, and tourmaline to citrine and various opals from Australia and Mexico.

Nature serves as a constant source of inspiration for Darlin De Sedl. Birds, fish, and beach sunsets inspire her designs. She strives to spend as much time outdoors as possible. According to her, it is important to remember that gemstones come from the depths of the earth and radiate positive energy, which they transmit to the people who wear her jewelry.
