Early Career and Love for Skiing

Rahlves had a diverse range of sporting interests during his childhood, including soccer, tennis, golf, water skiing, motocross, and alpine skiing. Despite having some experience with skiing in his early years, Rahlves did not achieve immediate success. It took four years of dedicated training and hard work before he was selected for the US National Team in 1993.

Success in Alpine Skiing

Rahlves went on to achieve remarkable success in the world of alpine skiing. In 2001, he won the Super-G World Championship, and in 2005, he secured a silver medal in the World Cup downhill and a bronze medal in the Super-G category. In 2003, Rahlves triumphed at the legendary Hahnenkamm downhill race, and in 2008, he won his twelfth Winter X Games championship, even after retiring from professional skiing.

Life Beyond Competitive Skiing

After the 2006 World Cup, Rahlves decided to retire from professional skiing. However, he continued to be involved in the sport by assisting various film crews during mountain expeditions, organizing ski tours and coaching programs, and helping in the organization of ski tournaments.

Rahlves's main goal is to introduce as many people as possible to the world of skiing. He believes that his departure from competitive skiing when his career was at its peak was driven by this desire. Despite his worldwide fame and numerous achievements, Rahlves remains humble and down-to-earth. He regards his father as his role model and considers his wife the love of his life. The happiest day of his life, according to Rahlves, is not when he became a world champion or won his first cup, but the day his son was born.

Rahlves's greatest fear is not fully utilizing the opportunities life presents. His motto is simple: "Just do it."
