Darren Barr Fletcher is a Scottish football player who currently plays as a central midfielder for the club Manchester United. He started playing football at the Tynecastle Boys Club in Edinburgh. Later, Fletcher caught the attention of talent scouts from Manchester United. He joined United at the age of 11 and initially played for the youth team before being promoted to the senior squad.

Rise to Prominence

Initially, Fletcher was expected to make his debut for the first team on May 14, 2000, which would have made him the youngest player ever to play for the club. However, the transfer was delayed as Premier League rules prohibited players with school contracts from playing at the senior level. In July 2000, Fletcher signed a training contract and on February 1, 2001, he signed his first professional contract.
