David Amar served as the first mayor of the Israeli city of Nesher from 1989 to 2013. He held the position of mayor for a long period, making him the only municipal leader in the city's history.

Re-election in 2008

In 2008, Amar reaffirmed his position as mayor by winning a convincing victory in the municipal elections. He received 65% of the votes from the electorate, solidifying his popularity and support among the residents of Nesher.

Defeat in 2013

However, in the 2013 municipal primaries, Amar suffered a defeat and lost the opportunity to lead the Likud party's city list. Despite this setback, he still ran for re-election at the helm of a separate list. Unfortunately, he was defeated by Avraham Binamo, who garnered 40% of the votes compared to Amar's 27%.
