Biography of David Arutyunyan
David Edonovich Arutyunyan (Armenian: Դավիթ Էդոնիսի Արուտյունյան, born March 5, 1963, Yerevan) is an Armenian state official. He has served in various government positions throughout his career.
Education and Early Career
From 1975 to 1980, Arutyunyan studied at the Faculty of Computer Engineering at Yerevan Polytechnic Institute. He then pursued his postgraduate studies at the Computing Center of the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR, earning a candidate of technical sciences degree. In 1982, he enrolled in the Faculty of Law at Rostov State University, completing his studies in 1988. Additionally, from 1988 to 1992, Arutyunyan studied psychology at the Armenian State Pedagogical Institute named after H. Abovyan.
Professional Career
Arutyunyan began his career as an engineer at the Yerevan Electrotechnical Plant in 1981. He later worked as a junior research associate at the Computing Center of the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR. Arutyunyan also held positions as the deputy director of Yerevan School No. 183 and the director of Yerevan School No. 198.
Political Career
In 1995, Arutyunyan was elected as a deputy of the Parliament and became a member of the Permanent Committee on State-Legal Affairs. He served as the Chief Advisor to the Mayor of Yerevan in 1997 and was subsequently appointed as the First Deputy Minister of Justice of Armenia from 1997 to 1998. From 1998 to 2007, Arutyunyan held the position of Minister of Justice in Armenia.
Later Career
On May 12, 2007, Arutyunyan was elected as a deputy of the Parliament and became a member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA). On June 7, 2007, he was elected as the chairman of the Permanent Committee on State-Legal Affairs. Arutyunyan is also known as the author of two monographs and over twenty scientific articles.
