Biography of David Draiman
David Draiman is a songwriter, vocalist, and frontman of the American alternative metal band Disturbed. He is ranked 42nd in the "Top 100 Metal Vocalists of All Time" chart.
Early Life
David Draiman was born on March 13, 1973, in Brooklyn, New York. His mother's parents were Polish immigrants who survived the Holocaust and later emigrated to the United States. Draiman's parents had planned for him to become a rabbi, so he received his education in Jewish religious schools (yeshivas) until 1993. He attended various yeshivas, including the High Yeshiva in Wisconsin, Fasman Yeshiva, and Ida Crown Jewish Academy in Chicago, Valley Torah High School in California, and Neve Zion Yeshiva in Jerusalem. However, he eventually decided to pursue higher education at Loyola University in Chicago, where he successfully completed degrees in political science, business management, and philosophy. He also enrolled in law school while simultaneously exploring his passion for music.
Musical Career
In 1996, David Draiman, along with guitarist Dan Donegan, bassist Steve "Fuzz" Kmak, and drummer Mike Wengren, formed a band that played alternative metal. Draiman became the lead vocalist, as well as the primary songwriter and composer of the group.
In 2000, their debut studio album, "The Sickness," was released, coinciding with Draiman's participation in the soundtrack for the film "Queen of the Damned." The film was released in 2002, and Draiman's vocal abilities earned him a place on the prestigious "Hit Parader" list of the 100 greatest metal vocalists of all time.
Their second album, "Believe," was released in 2002 and was dedicated to Draiman's late grandfather. On September 20, 2005, they released their album "Ten Thousand Fists," which marked a three-year gap since the release of "Believe." However, the band members believe that the wait was worth it.
Their fourth album, titled "Indestructible," was released on June 3, 2008, and was described by the band as their heaviest and darkest album.
In 2010, Disturbed released their fifth album, "Asylum." The album was officially released on August 27 in Germany and Australia, followed by its release in America on August 31.
Current Success
