Early Life and Career
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on January 11, 1957, Ige attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where he earned a bachelor's degree in political science. He began his political career in 1995 when he was elected to the Hawaii State Senate, where he served until 2014.
State Senator
As a state senator, Ige played a key role in shaping legislation related to economic development, education, and healthcare. He served as the Senate Majority Leader from 2006 to 2010 and as the Senate President from 2010 to 2014.
