General-Governor of Papua New Guinea
Sir Bob Dadae is the current General-Governor of Papua New Guinea, having served in this role since February 28, 2017.
Early Life and Education
Sir Dadae received his primary education at the Lutheran Mission Agency Omko in Derim and Buغانdi Secondary School. He went on to obtain a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Papua New Guinea (1988) and a Master of Business Administration from Griffith University (1995).
Political Career
Before entering politics, Sir Dadae worked as an accountant for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea and was a director for the Christian Press. He was elected to the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea in the 2002 elections as a member of the United Party for Kabwum Open. He became the party's deputy leader after the elections and was appointed Deputy Speaker in 2004.
Sir Dadae was re-elected in the 2007 elections and served as Minister for Defense under Michael Somare from 2007 to 2011. He switched to the People's National Congress after Somare was overthrown in 2011 and retained his seat under this banner in the 2012 elections.
General-Governorship
On February 28, 2017, Sir Bob Dadae was sworn in as the tenth General-Governor of Papua New Guinea, succeeding Michael Ogio. He was nominated for a second term in December 2022, alongside Winnie Kiap and Stephen Pokawin.
