Biography of David Coulthard

David Coulthard is a Scottish racing driver who has competed in the Formula 1 championships. He was born on March 27, 1971, in Twynholm, Scotland, United Kingdom. He currently resides in Monte Carlo, Monaco, and is not married. Coulthard stands at a height of 182 cm and weighs 69 kg.

Early Career

Coulthard began his racing career in karting from 1982 to 1988. He became a three-time junior champion in Scotland and won the Scottish Open Championship in 1988. In 1989, he became the champion of the British Formula Ford 1600.

Rise to Prominence

In 1990, Coulthard achieved great success by winning the British Formula Ford 1600 championship, finishing fourth in the British Vauxhall Lotus Challenge, and placing fifth in the GM Lotus Euroseries. He was awarded the title of "Young Driver of the Year" by Autosport magazine and McLaren team. He also had his first experience in Formula 1, driving for McLaren MP4-5 Honda.

Formula 3 and Formula 3000

In 1991, Coulthard participated in the British Formula 3 Championship and finished in second place after winning five races. He also won the prestigious Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix. The following year, he joined the International Formula 3000 Championship and won one race. He returned to Formula 1, this time driving for the Benetton Ford team.

Continued Success and Tragedy

In 1993, Coulthard competed again in the International Formula 3000 Championship, finishing in third place with one victory. He also became a test driver for the Williams team and won the GT class in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. In 1994, after the tragic death of Ayrton Senna at the San Marino Grand Prix, Coulthard became a full-time driver for the Williams team.
