Education and Military Career

Lieutenant General David Tavadze, Georgia's Minister of Defense, holds an impressive educational background. He graduated from Tbilisi University and the Institute of Foreign Languages (INYaZ) in Tbilisi. Additionally, he completed advanced courses in simultaneous translation and earned a doctorate from the Institute of Philosophy.

Tavadze's military career has been distinguished by his extensive training with Western institutions. From 1994 to 1997, he undertook courses at the NATO Defense College in Rome, the Marshall Center's College of Strategic Studies and Defense Economics in Germany, and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

Combat Experience

Despite his academic pursuits, Tavadze has a strong combat record. He served in various conflicts on Georgian territory, including the conflicts in Abkhazia, North Ossetia, and Western Georgia. He commanded a National Guard battalion and both a rapid deployment brigade and a motorized rifle brigade.
