Family Lineage
Ghirlandaio hailed from a dynasty of Florentine painters. His brothers, Benedetto (1458-1497) and Dosso (1449-1494), were also accomplished artists. His nephew, Ridolfo Ghirlandaio (1483-1561), became a renowned painter after receiving training from Domenicho.
Early Career and Collaboration
Initially, Ghirlandaio served as an assistant to his brother Dosso, the founder of their artistic dynasty. Following Dosso's passing, Domenicho assumed a mentorship role for his nephew, Ridolfo.
