Early Life and Education
Davis Gaines was born in Orlando, Florida, and graduated from Florida State University in 1977 with a bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts History.
Broadway Debut and Acclaim
Gaines made his Broadway debut as Raoul in "The Phantom of the Opera" in 1988. He went on to perform the role over 2,000 times, earning critical acclaim and the Bay Area Critics' Award for Best Actor.
Off-Broadway and Other Stage Work
Gaines has also graced Off-Broadway stages in productions such as "Assassins," "She Loves Me," and "Forbidden Broadway." He played Anthony Hope at the 20th anniversary concert of Stephen Sondheim's "Sweeney Todd."
Film and Television Career
Gaines began his television career in 1993 with a role in "Bodies of Evidence." He has appeared in films such as "Warlock: The Armageddon" and "Taxi to Canada." He has also had guest roles on "Murder, She Wrote," "Chicago Hope," "Charmed," and "Desperate Housewives."
Music and Recordings
Gaines is a renowned vocalist and has performed with major symphony orchestras across North America. His voice can be heard on over three dozen compilation albums and two solo albums, "Against the Tide" and "All My Tomorrows: Songs of Sammy Cahn."
