Early Life and Career

Dimitar Gerdzhikov was born on March 27, 1992, in Chepelare, Bulgaria. He made his international debut at the 2008 Junior World Championships in Ruhpolding, Germany, placing 91st in the individual race.

Junior World Championships

Gerdzhikov competed at the Junior World Championships four times between 2010 and 2013. In 2010, he achieved his best results, placing 8th in the sprint and 9th in the pursuit. In 2011, he also performed well, finishing 9th in the sprint and 15th in the pursuit in Nové Město na Moravě, Czech Republic.

European Championships

In 2012, Gerdzhikov's best result at the European Championships was 7th in the mixed relay, while his highest individual finish was 33rd in the pursuit. The following year, he returned to the competition in Bansko, Bulgaria, where he earned his best career performance with a 4th place in the mixed relay and a 7th place in the pursuit. In 2014, he struggled at the championships, achieving only a 7th place in the relay and a 51st place in the pursuit. In 2015, he again competed at the European Championships, but his team did not participate in the relay, and he finished 48th in the individual race.

IBU Cup

Gerdzhikov made his IBU Cup debut in 2009, finishing 13th in the sprint at Bansko, Bulgaria. He also competed at the IBU World Cup in Oberhof, Germany, in 2014, but placed 81st in the sprint race.
