Biography of Frode Andresen

Frode Andresen is a successful Norwegian biathlete, Olympic champion, and two-time world champion in biathlon. Born in Norway, Frode Andresen had the opportunity to visit different countries from a young age as he grew up in a diplomat's family. However, it was biathlon that caught his attention, and he began training in the sport in 1985.

Early Successes

Frode Andresen's first taste of success came in 1991 when he won the Norwegian Junior Championship. In 1994, he started competing in the World Cup, finishing the season in 58th place. From 1995 onwards, after becoming a world champion, Frode Andresen consistently ranked among the top twenty biathletes in the world.

Olympic Achievements

At his first Olympics in 1998, Frode Andresen won a silver medal, finishing second to his teammate Ole Einar Bjoerndalen. The 1999 World Championship brought controversy when judges noticed that Andresen loaded his rifle before the start, which is against biathlon rules, resulting in his disqualification from the mass start event.

Olympic Gold

In the 2002 Winter Olympics, Frode Andresen achieved his greatest success, winning a gold medal and earning the title of Olympic champion in biathlon. He narrowly missed another gold in the individual race due to three missed shots at the final shooting stage, finishing in seventh place.

Later Career

Unfortunately, Frode Andresen's career did not replicate the same level of success. His shooting performance declined while his skiing remained strong. Despite this setback, he continued to compete, but without achieving the same level of success as earlier in his career.

Frode Andresen is married to Gun Margit Andreassen, and they have a son named David.
