Gianni Versace was an Italian fashion designer who was born in 1946 in a small provincial town called Reggio di Calabria. Growing up, Versace had a passion for fashion as he spent his early years surrounded by dresses in his mother's sewing shop. Despite having a difficult relationship with his mother, who favored his brother Santo, Versace remained close to her and learned the importance of working with the body to create beautiful designs.

However, instead of pursuing a career in fashion, Versace initially studied architecture. It was his mother who convinced him to join her atelier and pursue a career in fashion.
