Biography of Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld, a German fashion designer, artist, and photographer, is considered one of the key figures in contemporary fashion design. Throughout his long career, Lagerfeld has worked with several prominent fashion houses worldwide, including Chanel, Fendi, and Tiziani, in addition to leading his own fashion house. He was born in Hamburg, Germany, and the exact date of his birth remains unknown. According to available documents, Lagerfeld was born in 1933. Lagerfeld's father was a successful entrepreneur who specialized in selling condensed milk, which protected Karl from the horrors of World War II. After completing his education in Paris, Lagerfeld began his career as a designer, initially working for Pierre Balmain. He then moved on to Jean Patou, where he worked intensively, consistently producing two collections per year. Lagerfeld's debut collection, presented in July 1958, was met with criticism, but he eventually gained recognition in the fashion industry. In the 1970s, Lagerfeld started designing costumes for various theatrical productions and expanded his projects, including collaborations with 'Chloe', 'Isetan', 'Charles Jourdan', 'Ballantyne', and 'Trevira'. Over the years, Lagerfeld's fame grew, and he became known worldwide. In 2002, Lagerfeld collaborated with Renzo Rosso, the founder of 'Diesel', to create a special collection of denim clothing for 'Lagerfeld Gallery'. The collection was well-received and sold out quickly. Lagerfeld also collaborated with the renowned Swiss fashion brand 'H&M'. In 2018, Lagerfeld launched his own line of cosmetics with the Australian brand ModelCo. Lagerfeld's personal life was filled with a romantic relationship with his best friend, Jacques de Bascher, which lasted for 12 years until de Bascher's death in 1989. After de Bascher's death, Lagerfeld did not form any significant relationships. He was known for making controversial statements throughout his life, often attracting attention from the media. Lagerfeld passed away on February 19, 2019, at the age of 85, from pancreatic cancer.
