Early Life and Role in the Revolution
Dmitry Mikhailovich Krokhalev was born on November 8, 1886, into a peasant family in the village of Kamennoye, Chelyabinsk, Orenburg Governorate (now the administrative center of Kamenskoye Village Council, Shumikhinsky District, Kurgan Oblast).
Establishment of Soviet Power in Shumikha
As an active participant in the struggle to establish and strengthen Soviet power in the Shumikha district, Krokhalev played a crucial role. His brother Ekhim's house served as the headquarters for the Bolshevik Party committee, and before the war, it was rented out as a tavern on Tutynin Street (now the site of the "Zauralye" hotel).
On March 11, 1917, led by the Bolshevik Krokhalev, a group of soldiers from the front disarmed the police and gendarmerie, with the weapons being delivered to the head of the militia and commissar of the Provisional Government, S.S. Simakov.
Visit to Chelyabinsk during the Czechoslovak Corps Uprising
In the summer of 1918, during the Czechoslovak Corps Uprising, a delegation including Krokhalev, V.I. Reshetnikov, and A. Lebedev visited Chelyabinsk in a maneuver locomotive to assess the situation. Upon his return to Shumikha, Krokhalev informed I.G. Kovalenko, the chairman of the Shumikha District Council, that Chelyabinsk had been captured by the Czechs and that he had witnessed the brutal treatment of Bolsheviks in the city.
Occupation and Later Life
On June 3, 1918, the White Czechs occupied Shumikha, and Krokhalev's property was confiscated. He passed away in 1959, leaving behind a legacy as a revolutionary figure.
Family Legacy
Dmitry Mikhailovich Krokhalev is the great-grandfather of Russian-American actress Sofia Vladimirovna Vasilyeva (born October 22, 1992).
