Junior Career
During his junior career, Doughty played for the Ontario Hockey League club, Guelph Storm. His exceptional skills and performance caught the attention of NHL scouts, and in 2008, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings as the second overall pick.
Early NHL Career
Impressing the team with his talent during training camp, Doughty signed a contract with the Kings at the age of eighteen. On October 11, 2008, he made his NHL debut in a game against the San Jose Sharks. Just nine days later, on October 20, he scored his first NHL goal against the Colorado Avalanche.
Professional Achievements
Throughout the 2008-2009 season, Doughty played in 81 games, scoring 6 goals and assisting on 21 occasions. His contributions helped the Kings reach the playoffs that year.
