Biography of Jocelyne Lamoureux

Early Life and Family

Jocelyne Lamoureux, an American ice hockey player, was born in 1989 in North Dakota. She grew up in a large family with four brothers and a twin sister named Monique, who also plays hockey. The entire family has a connection to the sport, as her father and brothers are all involved in hockey. Her brother Philippe plays for the Buffalo Sabres, while Jacques plays for the Air Force Academy and Pierre-Paul and Mario are members of the University of North Dakota team, with Pierre-Paul also serving as an assistant coach for the college team.

Education and Early Career

Jocelyne attended the University of North Dakota, although her education started at Shattuck-St. Mary's in Minnesota. It was at Shattuck-St. Mary's where Jocelyne first caught attention as a talented newcomer, starting to play in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Her performance as a rookie was impressive, scoring 28 goals and assisting in 37 cases during her first season in 2008-09.

International Success

In 2009, Jocelyne and her sister Monique joined the national women's team of the United States. As a member of the team, Jocelyne won gold at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Women's Championship in 2009. Prior to this, Jocelyne had experience representing the American women's team twice at the Four Nations Cup and participated in tournaments with the U.S. Women's Under-22 Select Team. She also attended the USA Hockey Player Development Camp four times.

Olympic Career

Jocelyne and her sister were both selected to be part of the U.S. Olympic team that competed in Vancouver in 2010. Jocelyne quickly proved her value to the team, scoring a goal in the first match against China, which ended with an impressive score of 12-1 in favor of the American women. Her goal in that game was recognized as excellent even by the highest male standards. In another Olympic match against Russia, Jocelyne again stood out, scoring one of the thirteen goals in a 13-0 victory for the U.S. team.

Notable Achievements

At just twenty years old, Jocelyne Lamoureux is one of the youngest players on the American team. Together with her sister, they hold a unique record, as no twins had ever played together on the Olympic ice hockey team before. Jocelyne's skill and contributions to the sport have made her a prominent figure in women's ice hockey.
