Dulé Hill, an American film and theater actor, and a brilliant tap dancer, was born in 1975. He was primarily known for his comedic roles and his exceptional tap dancing skills. Hill, whose first name was Karim, stopped using it in his youth. He was born into a family of a banker and a teacher, both of Jamaican descent, and was the younger of two sons. From the age of three, Dulé started dancing, with a particular focus on tap dancing. This would later influence his acting career when he caught the attention of renowned tap master Savion Glover, who invited him to star in his musical "The Tap Dance Kid." Even before graduating from high school in 1993, Dulé had already appeared in several notable productions of that time, including the musicals "Shenandoah," "Little Rascals," and "Black and Blue." In 1994, he made his debut in film, portraying Wesley Snipes' character at the age of 17 in the movie "Sugar Hill."

Dulé enrolled at South Orange's Seton Hall University, where he pursued a degree in finance while also appearing in commercials and the critically acclaimed but short-lived ABC series "CityKids" (1993-1994). Unable to resist Glover's invitation to join the Broadway production of "Bring in Da' Noise, Bring in Da' Funk," Hill played in the musical for two and a half years. This led to several dance appearances on television, including CBS's "Cosby" and WB's "Smart Guy" in 1997-1998. He then landed a small role in the comedy film "She's All That" (1999), which marked the turning point in his career. Dulé's portrayal in the NBC series "The West Wing" (1999-2006) perfectly embodied Aaron Sorkin's dialogue style, earning him an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actor in 2002. During his time on "The West Wing," Hill also appeared in several feature films, such as "Men of Honor" (2000), "Holes" (2003), "Edmond" (2005) by David Mamet, and "The Guardian" (2006) starring Kevin Costner. After the seventh season of "The West Wing," Hill decided to leave the show and explore new projects.
