Early Career
Born in Nigeria, Onyekachi Apam honed his football skills in academies affiliated with Denmark's FC Midtjylland, including the Nigerian club Ebedei and the Danish club Ikast.
FC Midtjylland
In 2004, Apam joined Midtjylland's first team. He made his UEFA Cup debut for the club on July 19, 2007, and went on to appear in 98 matches across all competitions.
FC Groningen
In May 2008, Apam transferred to FC Groningen for a fee of €3.3 million, signing a five-year contract. He played his first game for Groningen against FC Utrecht on September 14, 2008. In his second match, against Heracles Almelo, he was sent off in just the second minute.
Brondby Loan and Groningen Return
In August 2011, Apam was loaned to Danish club Brondby. After his loan spell, he returned to Groningen and remained with the team until the end of his contract.
International Career
Apam represented Nigeria at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, starting in all six of his team's matches. He made his senior international debut for Nigeria in a friendly against Colombia on November 20, 2008. He played as a substitute in the 2010 World Cup qualifier against Mozambique on March 29, 2009.
