Edith Bowman is a Scottish radio and television presenter best known for hosting daytime shows on weekdays and a weekend morning show on BBC Radio 1 since September 2009. She was born on January 15, 1974, in Anstruther, a small coastal town in Fife, Scotland, which was once a fishing village. Edith attended Queen Margaret University College in Edinburgh.
In 2004, she began dating Guy Garvey, the lead singer of the band 'Elbow,' and inspired him to write many songs for their third album 'Leaders of the Free World.' However, their relationship ended in 2005. Currently, Edith lives in London with Tom Smith, the lead singer of the Birmingham rock band 'Editors.' They have two sons, Rudy (born in 2008) and Spike (born in 2013). She is a dedicated fan of Manchester United FC.
Television Career
Edith Bowman's first television job was reading news on MTV UK. She later established herself as an excellent presenter for various programs on the channel, including the hit parade show 'Hitlist UK' alongside Cat Deeley. They also hosted a travel show called 'Roadtripping' for BBC Choice in 2002. On Channel 4, Edith hosted the morning show 'RI:SE' when it premiered in April 2002. In 2004, she was one of the hosts of the BBC Scotland show 'Teen Commandments'.
In 2003, Edith unexpectedly appeared on the music program 'Top of the Pops' and occasionally served as one of the presenters of the show until its closure, replacing Fearne Cotton. She hosted ten episodes in total, including the final one, and returned for a special Christmas episode in 2006. From 2005, Edith voiced commercials for the electronics store 'Comet.' She also hosted several music programs on Channel 4 and appeared in the children's show 'SMart' in 2007. Radio Career
Edith Bowman's radio career began in 2001-2002 with the program 'Hit Music Sunday' on Capital FM, where she worked with Cat Deeley once again. She then worked alongside her 'RI:SE' colleague Colin Murray on the program 'Colin and Edith' on BBC Radio 1. In August 2006, she became the sole presenter of the daytime show from 13:00 to 16:00 on BBC Radio 1. In September 2008, after the birth of her child, she returned to work and took responsibility for the daytime slot once again. In July, Edith moved to the weekend morning shows, while Greg James replaced her during the weekdays. In April 2012, she left BBC Radio 1, but occasionally collaborates with her former colleagues on various projects. In November 2012, she became the host of a show on BBC Radio 6 Music.
Charitable Work
Edith Bowman has supported the 'Fashion Targets Breast Cancer' campaign along with other celebrities. She made her television debut on the talent show 'The Big Break'.
