Early Life and CareerEdward Lawrence Heimberger, known as Edward Albert Jr., was born in Los Angeles, California on February 20, 1951. The son of actor Eddie Albert and Mexican actress Margo, he was christened with Lawrence Olivier as his godfather. His first film role came in the unconventional drama "The Fool Killer" (1965), where he played an orphaned runaway.
Rise to Fame
Albert's breakthrough performance came in Milton Katselas' Academy Award-winning dramedy "Butterflies Are Free" (1972), where he starred alongside Goldie Hawn. For his role, he received a Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer. He continued to work with Katselas in "40 Carats" (1973). In the epic film "Midway" (1976), he portrayed a U.S. Navy fighter pilot.
Television Success
Albert found lasting fame on television in the 1980s series "Beauty and the Beast," where he played Elliot Birch, a New York City millionaire who falls in love with Linda Hamilton's character, Catherine Chandler. He also appeared in "Power Rangers Time Force" as Wesley Collins Sr., father of the Red Ranger, and voiced the character of Daredevil in the 1990s animated series "Spider-Man."

Edward Albert Jr. married Kathryn Woodville in 1978, and they had a daughter, Tai Carmen, who went on to become a singer in the rock band Sugar in Wartime.

A longtime resident of the Malibu mountains, he dedicated himself to its preservation. After his death, the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy named the Escondido Canyon area after him.
