Early Life and Club Career
Ole Johannessen was born on January 18, 1897, in Porsgrunn, Norway. As a young footballer, he joined Odd Groenland and quickly rose through the ranks. He became the team's star center forward and scored over 200 goals.
Johannessen's remarkable goal-scoring prowess earned him the title of five-time Norwegian Cup winner with Odd Groenland. He also had a brief stint in the French amateur league with Sete, where he famously netted seven goals in a 10-0 victory on January 18, 1921.
International Career
Johannessen's impressive performances at club level earned him a call-up to the Norwegian national team. He made 33 appearances for Norway, scoring 26 goals. One of his most notable achievements was participating in the 1920 Summer Olympics, where Norway reached the quarterfinals.
Post-Playing Career
After retiring from playing, Johannessen pursued a career in coaching. In 1946, he returned to Odd Groenland as youth team manager, where he remained for several years. Johannessen's dedication to football extended beyond his playing and coaching days. He was an active advocate for the sport and worked tirelessly to promote its development in Norway.
