Biography of Elena Frolova

Elena Borisovna Frolova was born on October 1, 1969, in Riga. She is best known as a singer-songwriter of songs based on the poetry of both contemporary and "silver age" poets. Frolova started composing songs at the age of twelve and is skilled in playing the six-string guitar. In 1986, she had her first public performance at a festival in Sosnovy Bor.

Laureate of the Second All-Union Festival in Tallinn

In 1988, Frolova became a laureate of the Second All-Union Festival in Tallinn, both as a composer and performer. She also participated in festivals in Riga, Minsk, and Vilnius. That same year, she moved to Moscow and formed a duet with Vera Evushkina called "VerLen."

Collaboration with Elena Kamburova

Since 1989, Frolova has been a member of the Theater of Music and Poetry led by Elena Kamburova. From 1991 to 1993, she collaborated with the Chamber Theater of Shadows "Pleiada" in Suzdal. In 1993, she received the Vera Matveeva Prize. In 1994, she left Riga and settled in Suzdal, and later in Vladimir, where she currently resides.

Membership in the Creative Union "Azia"

Frolova is a member of the creative union "Azia," which was formed in the spring of 1993. The union includes Tatiana Aleshina, Alexander Derevyagin, Nikolay Yakimov, and Elena Frolova. She is known for being an author and performer of songs based on the poetry of various poets, including M. Lermontov, A. Bely, O. Mandelstam, A. Blok, M. Tsvetaeva, I. Brodsky, M. Petrov, V. Sosnora, and others.

Professional Career

Since 1988, Frolova has been actively touring cities in the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States). In 1993 and 1994, she toured in Germany as part of the "VerLen" duet. Her albums featuring her own songs and songs by the "VerLen" duet were released at the Siberian Trakt studio in Kazan between 1991 and 1995. In 1996, a compact disc titled "Nebо lyubit tebya" ("Bird Songs") was released in Kazan, followed by the release of "Proplyvayut oblaka" in Moscow in 1998.
