Biography of Elena Lukash
Elena Lukash is a Ukrainian politician, public figure, lawyer, and member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the V convocation. She was born on November 12, 1976, in Rybnitsa, Moldavian SSR. From 1977 to 1995, she lived in Severodonetsk, Luhansk Oblast. In 2000, she graduated from the Academy of Labor and Social Relations under the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine in Kyiv, specializing in "Jurisprudence." From 2000 to 2005, she worked as a lawyer and also taught at the Ukrainian Academy of Foreign Trade in Kyiv from 2004 to 2005.
During the Orange Revolution in late 2004, Elena Lukash defended the interests of the presidential candidate Viktor Yanukovych in front of the Supreme Court of Ukraine. In 2005, she was the defense lawyer for Boris Kolesnikov, one of the leaders of the Party of Regions and the head of the Donetsk regional council at the time. His arrest was related to his statements during the Orange Revolution, which were considered "separatist." Since June 30, 2005, she has been a member of the board of the All-Ukrainian public organization "Union of Youth of Ukraine's Regions." Elena Lukash is also a member of the Council and Executive Committee of the Union of Lawyers of Ukraine and the Union of Advocates of Ukraine.
In 2006, she was elected as a member of the Ukrainian Parliament (No. 26 on the Party of Regions list). On November 10, 2006, she was appointed as the Deputy Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Head of the Legal Support Department of the Secretariat of the Ukrainian Government. In 2007, she was re-elected as a member of the Ukrainian Parliament (No. 27 on the Party of Regions list) during the extraordinary parliamentary elections.
