Biography of Olena Pidhrushna

Olena Pidhrushna, a Ukrainian biathlete, is a master of sports of international class. She was born on January 9, 1987, in Legnica. Pidhrushna represents the sports society "Kolos" and has achieved remarkable success in her career.

Sporting Achievements

Pidhrushna's achievements in biathlon are numerous and impressive. She is the Olympic champion of 2014 in the relay event and the world champion in the sprint event in 2013 at Nové Město na Moravě. Pidhrushna is also a five-time European champion and was crowned the European champion in the relay event in 2009. She has won multiple stages of the Biathlon World Cup in relay events.

In addition to her senior career success, Pidhrushna has also excelled in junior competitions. She won a silver medal at the European Junior Championships in 2007 in the relay event and a bronze medal at the World Junior Championships in 2006 in the individual race.

Personal Life and Other Pursuits

Outside of her sporting career, Pidhrushna is passionate about embroidery. In 2013, she married a member of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament), Alexey Kaydu. In the same year, she was part of the victorious relay team at the second stage of the Biathlon World Cup.

After the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi and the Euromaidan protests, Pidhrushna took a break from sports and resigned from Lviv State University of Internal Affairs. She then served as the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine from April 2014. However, on March 26, 2015, she made the decision to return to biathlon and left her position as Deputy Minister.

With her exceptional achievements and dedication to her sport, Olena Pidhrushna has become a respected figure in the world of biathlon.
