Early Life and Education

Ya掛けて Zhdanovich was born in the Ivie District of Belarus with a visual impairment. She attended the Pravomostivskaya Boarding School for the Visually Impaired, where she embarked on her sporting journey.

Transition to Sports

Zhdanovich initially competed in athletics, earning a bronze medal in javelin throw at the 1996 Summer Paralympics. She later transitioned to cross-country skiing and biathlon, competing in the B2 class.

Paralympic Success

Zhdanovich made her Paralympic debut in Nagano in 1998, placing fourth in the 5km race. Her breakthrough came at the 2002 Salt Lake City Paralympics, where she claimed the gold medal in the 5km classic cross-country event. She also won a silver medal that year.

In Turin in 2006, Zhdanovich secured two silver medals and a bronze. She went on to win two bronze medals in Vancouver in 2010.

Personal Life and Support

Zhdanovich is married to Artur, a factory worker and Belarusian skiing champion. They have a daughter, Irina, and two granddaughters.

Throughout her three Olympic campaigns, Zhdanovich relied on the guidance of her sports leader, Vasil Gavrukovich. In Sochi in 2014, she competed with Irina Nafraнович, with whom she won a bronze medal. Anastasiya Kirillova became her sports leader in 2018.
