Early Life and Education

Elena Nikolaevna Semenogwas born on February 3, 1963, in Liman village, Kharkiv Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. After completing secondary education, she pursued a higher degree at Kharkiv State University (now Karazin Kharkiv National University) from 1980 to 1985, where she specialized in philology. Her acclaimed diploma thesis, "Individually-Authored Neologisms in the Works of Oles Honchar," earned her a first-degree diploma from the USSR Ministry of Higher and Specialized Secondary Education in 1985.

Continuing her academic journey, Semenog enrolled at Lesya Ukrainka Eastern European National University from 2018 to 2020, completing a Master's degree in philology with a focus on Slavic languages and literature. Additionally, she pursued public administration and administration at Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko from 2018 to 2019, graduating with a qualification in government and private sector management.

Professional Career

Semenog's professional career took off in 1987 at Glukhov State Pedagogical Institute (now Glukhov National Pedagogical University named after Alexander Dovzhenko), where she served as an assistant, senior lecturer, and associate professor in the Ukrainian language department. In 1996, she successfully defended her PhD thesis on "Family Upbringing Traditions in the Professional Training of Students at Pedagogical Institutes."

Her pursuit of knowledge and expertise led her to complete doctoral studies from 2002 to 2005, resulting in her doctoral dissertation defense in February 2006. The dissertation, titled "System of Professional Training for Future Ukrainian Language and Literature Teachers (in the Conditions of a Pedagogical University)," demonstrated her profound understanding of pedagogical studies.

From 2005 to 2016, Semenog held senior research scientist and chief research scientist positions at the Institute of Pedagogical Education and Adult Education of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine. Simultaneously, she held the roles of professor and head of the Ukrainian language department at Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko from 2007 to 2018.

Since 2019, Semenog has continued to serve as a professor and head of the Ukrainian language and literature department at Sumy State Pedagogical University. Under her academic supervision, four doctoral dissertations, seven PhD dissertations, and three doctor of philosophy dissertations have been successfully defended.

Research and Publications

Semenog has authored over 300 scholarly works, including monographs and textbooks. Her research interests revolve around professional training, family education, and modern teaching technologies. She has made significant contributions to the fields of pedagogy and linguistics.

Social Activities and Recognition

Beyond her academic endeavors, Semenog actively engages in social activities. She is a member of the editorial boards of several international scientific journals and professional magazines. She also plays a pivotal role in organizing annual international and all-Ukrainian scientific-practical conferences.

Semenog has received numerous awards for her dedication to education and scholarship, including the "Excellent Worker in Education of Ukraine" (1993), "For Scientific and Educational Achievements" (2021), and the "K.D. Ushinsky" Medal (2013). She was also honored with the title of Honorary Citizen of Liman village, Zmievsky district, Kharkiv Oblast, in 2007.
