Military Service and Aviation Career
Cohen's military career began in the Israeli Air Force, where he served as a combat pilot. He later rose through the ranks to become commander of the largest helicopter squadron, head of the IAF's Special Operations Department, and Commander of the Western Sinai Sector with the rank of Colonel.
After retiring from the military, Cohen served as Director of Ben-Gurion Airport and later became a Boeing 747 pilot for El Al airlines.
Political Career
In May 1999, Cohen was elected to the Knesset as a member of the National Unity Party (NU). He has been a vocal advocate for the adoption of a constitution in Israel and has led the Knesset's Constitutional Lobby.
Literary and Academic Pursuits
Cohen has also made significant contributions to the field of history. He graduated from Ben-Gurion University with a second academic degree in Israeli history and has published a book, "The Sky's the Limit," chronicling the history of the Israeli Air Force.
Political Activism
Prior to his election to the Knesset, Cohen was involved in political activism. He was a founding member of the Dash party in 1977 and later founded the "Israelis for a Change of Government" movement in 1988.
