Childhood and Early Life
Elina Nechayeva was born on November 10, 1991, in Tallinn, Estonia, into an ethnic Russian family. Her love of music was fostered by her grandmother, who took her to countless organ music concerts. From a young age, Elina sang in the "Rainbow" choir, where she felt comfortable on stage despite her childhood shyness. She studied at the Tallinn French Lyceum, where she excelled in languages and the arts, and concurrently attended the Georg Ots Tallinn Music School. At the age of 14, she decided to pursue opera singing over pop music.
Education and Training
From 2011 to 2014, Nechayeva attended the Tallinn University of Arts, and in 2016, she graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in classical singing. She has participated in numerous vocal competitions in Estonia and abroad, achieving notable success. Nechayeva has also had experience in modeling and fashion shows.
Vocal Career
Nechayeva's musical journey began with roles in various productions, including Michel Houellebecq's "The Map and the Territory" at the Estonian Drama Theatre. In 2014, she competed in the "Stars of Classics" contest, where she caught the attention of director Juhan Ulfsak. In 2017, she co-hosted the Estonian national Eurovision Song Contest, Eesti Laul.
Eurovision 2018
In 2018, Nechayeva submitted her song "La Forza" to the Eesti Laul contest. She emerged as the winner, securing her spot as Estonia's representative at Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon. Nechayeva's powerful vocals and vibrant stage presence made her a fan favorite and a strong contender for the grand finale.
Personal Life
Nechayeva keeps her personal life private, but rumors have linked her to businessman David Pärnamets. She is an avid fitness enthusiast and enjoys extreme sports such as skiing and plans to skydive. Her idol is opera singer Anna Netrebko, who inspired her nickname of "Soprano in Boxing Gloves" due to her love of martial arts.
