Biography of Janice Chapman
IntroductionJanice Chapman is an Australian soprano singer and vocal pedagogue. She is renowned as one of the leading vocal teachers on an international level in the United Kingdom. Chapman is also an author, having written the book 'Singing and Teaching Singing: A Holistic Approach to Classical Voice'. She currently teaches at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
Early Career
Chapman began teaching vocal technique in 1975 at the London College of Music. As her teaching career progressed, she became a founding member of the British Voice Association, leading the association for five years. Throughout her career, Chapman has worked with students from all over the world who travel to London to study with her.
Operatic Career
In addition to her teaching, Chapman enjoyed a successful singing career spanning over 35 years. As a leading soprano, she received engagements from major British opera houses, including the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden, and the English National Opera.
