Early Life and Skating Career
Elizabeth Cain is an Australian figure skater who achieved early success in pair skating with her brother, Peter Cain. Together, they captured the bronze medal at the 1976 World Junior Championships and reigned as four-time Australian national champions.
The Cain siblings represented Australia at the 1980 Winter Olympics, finishing in 11th place. They also competed in several World Championships, with their best result being a 12th-place finish. After retiring from competitive skating, Elizabeth Cain embarked on a coaching career, including training her son, Sean Carlow, who became an Australian champion in singles skating.
In March 2007, Cain faced a life-changing event when she was involved in a boat collision in Sydney Harbour. She lost a leg in the accident and now uses a prosthesis. Her life was saved by her son, Sean, who jumped into the water and kept her afloat until emergency responders arrived.
Today, Elizabeth Cain continues to inspire others through her unwavering determination. As a figure skating coach, she has guided numerous young athletes to success. Her story of survival and resilience serves as a powerful testament to the human spirit.
