Biography of Emil Kogan
Emil Kogan is a journalist, publicist, and literary scholar. He served as the head of the literary section of the newspaper "Moskovsky Komsomolets". In 1968, he left for France with his French wife and decided not to return to the USSR after the suppression of the Prague Spring. Currently, he teaches at the Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations at the University of Paris-Nouvelle.
Works and Contributions
Emil Kogan is the author of the book "Salt Pillar: Political Psychology of A. Solzhenitsyn" (Paris, 1982, 228 pages). He has also written a number of works on the works of I. Babel, including publishing drafts and sketches of Babel's "Red Cavalry" in 1995 with his own commentary. Kogan has published articles and reviews in emigrant journals such as "Kontinent," "Syntaxis," and others. In one of his articles about the almanac "Metropolis," he wrote about its significance and impact on the literary world.
