Biography of Emily Skye
Australian Fitness StarEmily Skye, the Australian fitness star, gained worldwide recognition for documenting the "bright, dull, and even ugly sides" of her pregnancy before giving birth to her daughter, Mia Elise. Skye, now 32 years old, was ranked third on the Forbes list of the most influential personalities in the fitness world in early 2017. After deciding to "share" her pregnancy on social media with millions of followers, the Gold Coast native finally became a mother.

A Joyful Introduction
In her Instagram account, Emily writes, "I am so happy to finally meet my beautiful girl, Mia Elise Redmond, who arrived at 11:53 am on December 18th. She weighs 3.5 kg." The radiant new mother and her baby girl were dressed in matching floral prints as they posed together for the camera. Emily informed her 2.2 million followers that she and her partner, Declan Redmond, constantly experience "intense bursts of love," presumably towards their daughter. The new father also shared the news on his own Instagram account, captioning a photo of Emily and their child, "The two loves of my life."

Documenting the Journey
By documenting her pregnancy online, Skye earned recognition and praise from her followers for her honest account of the changes in her body. She showcased raw photos of her transforming physique, revealing the "orange peel" and cellulite that are typically photoshopped away. "Since becoming pregnant, I have gained some fat and cellulite," confesses Skye. "I have also lost some muscle mass, but it hasn't been an issue for me."

Challenges and Triumph
Skye's challenging pregnancy culminated at 40 weeks, after she expressed her readiness for childbirth to her fans. Shortly beforehand, the fitness celebrity commented on the difficulty and discomfort of carrying a baby she eagerly awaited. "In reality, my pregnancy went beyond my plan as a fitness professional," the Australian wrote on Instagram. "I thought I would be able to continue exercising until the very end of pregnancy, but that didn't happen. Ha-ha." Due to long-standing back problems and sciatica, she was unable to work out during the last two months. Skye made the decision to listen to her body and stop exercising temporarily, emphasizing that it was only a short-term absence. "There is always time to return to fitness."

Goals for the Future
In early December 2017, Emily shared her fitness goals for the upcoming year on Instagram. Among them is her determination to regain her athletic ability and get her body back in shape after giving birth. Skye acknowledged that her spine had been seriously affected during pregnancy. In one of her posts, she writes, "I find it difficult to simply stand and walk around the house. Last night, I was in tears because I couldn't find a comfortable position in my own bed." She eagerly anticipates improving her posture, restoring balance, strengthening her pelvic floor, core, and glute muscles, and, of course, building muscle mass. Emily plans to launch her new fitness program as soon as she gets back in shape and organizes all the necessary documentation.
