Canadian actress Emily VanCamp is best known for her roles in the TV series "Everwood," "Brothers & Sisters," and "Revenge," as well as her portrayal of Sharon Carter/Agent 13 in the films "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Captain America: Civil War."
Early Life
Emily Irene VanCamp was born on May 12, 1986, in Port Perry, Ontario to Cindy and Robert VanCamp. Her father was a veterinarian, and she has three sisters. Her older sister, Katie, is a children's book writer and former dancer. Emily began learning ballet at the age of three and was accepted into the Quebec High School of Ballet at the age of 12. During her training, she lived with a local French-Canadian family.
Acting Career
In 1998, VanCamp became interested in acting after participating in the filming of the movie "Ladies Room." She began attending acting classes on Saturdays and eventually found an agent. She appeared in several commercials and landed a role in the TV series "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" Her breakthrough came at the age of 15 when she was cast as Sam Dolan in the series "Glory Days." This caught the attention of writer Greg Berlanti, who cast her in the series "Everwood."
VanCamp gained recognition for her portrayal of Emily Abbott in "Everwood," earning four Teen Choice Awards nominations and one Young Artist Awards nomination. She appeared in films such as "No Good Deed," "A Different Loyalty," and "Carriers." In 2007, she joined the cast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and starred in the independent drama "Black Irish."
In 2007, VanCamp landed a significant role in the series "Brothers & Sisters" as Rebecca Harper. She also appeared in the independent film "Norman," for which she received awards at the San Diego Film Festival and Breckenridge Film Festival. She went on to star in the series "Revenge," which earned her multiple Teen Choice Awards nominations.
