Early Life and Education
Emomali Rahmon was born on October 5, 1952 in the Dangara district of Tajikistan. He completed his education at the Tajik State University in 1982, specializing in economics.

Early Career
Rahmon began his professional career in 1971 as an electrician at an oil refinery in Kurgan-Tyube. He also served in the Soviet Army from 1971 to 1974. After his military service, Rahmon returned to work at the oil refinery. From 1976 to 1988, he held various positions within the local agricultural system, including secretary of the executive board and chairman of the trade union committee of the Dangara district's collective farm. He later worked in party organizations.

Political Career
In June 1988, Rahmon became the director of the Lenin collective farm in the Dangara district. In November 1992, he was elected chairman of the executive committee of the Kulob regional Council of People's Deputies. On November 19, 1992, Rahmon was elected Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Tajikistan. On November 6, 1994, he was inaugurated as the President of the Republic of Tajikistan. On November 6, 1999, Rahmon was re-elected as the President for a seven-year term following the constitutional amendments made after the referendum on September 26, 1999.
