Youth and Early CareerEnrique Vera began his footballing journey in Paraguay, playing for modest clubs such as Resistencia, Sol de América, and Iteño. In 2004, he ventured to Ecuador, initially joining smaller teams like Aucas, Universidad Católica (Quito), and Olmedo.
Rise to Prominence at LDU Quito
In 2006, Vera's career took a significant turn when he joined LDU Quito, one of Ecuador's most renowned clubs. Under their guidance, he flourished as a key player in the midfield, helping them secure the Ecuadorian championship in 2007. His exceptional performances earned him the recognition of the Ecuadorian Football Federation and a call-up to the Paraguayan national team.
Conquest of the Copa Libertadores
Vera's most memorable achievement came in 2008 when LDU Quito became the first Ecuadorian club to lift the prestigious Copa Libertadores. Vera's exceptional performances throughout the tournament earned him a place in the tournament's symbolic team. His success caught the attention of Mexican club América, who acquired his services after the tournament.
Return to LDU Quito and International Glory
Vera's absence from LDU Quito was short-lived as he returned to the club in 2009. Upon his return, he led the team to victory in the Recopa Sudamericana, another major international tournament. He also represented Paraguay at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Later Career and Retirement
