Eric Martial Djemba Djemba

Early Career

Eric Martial Djemba Djemba, a Cameroonian footballer, began his career in 2003 with the Cameroonian team Braeary. He then moved to Thailand's Tero Sasana, Cyprus' APEP, and Cameroon's Fovu Baham.

Arrival at Anzhi Makhachkala

In 2006, Djemba Djemba joined FC Anzhi Makhachkala in Russia's First Division, where he made 33 appearances. After his contract expired, he had trials with FC Basel in Switzerland and AJ Auxerre in France, as well as interest from FC Ural in Russia.

Journeyman Career

FC Minsk and FC Gomel

Djemba Djemba eventually signed with FC Minsk in Belarus, playing 10 matches before moving to FC Gomel where he played only two matches. In 2007, Gomel finished as runners-up in the Belarusian Premier League.

FC Illichivets Mariupol

Djemba Djemba was loaned to FC Illichivets Mariupol for the 2007/08 winter season, making his debut in March 2008. Illichivets won the First League and gained promotion to the Premier League.

Success at Illichivets

In 2008, Djemba Djemba officially joined Illichivets. He made his Premier League debut in July 2008 against Dynamo Kyiv, becoming a fan favorite known as "Maximka."

Djemba Djemba represented Cameroon at the U21 level, playing 10 matches.

Tragedy

Fatal Accident

On August 8, 2009, Djemba Djemba tragically passed away in a car accident in his hometown of Abong-Mbang, Cameroon, while on vacation with his fiancée.
