Eric McCormack was born on April 18, 1963, in Calgary, Canada. He was the son of an actor and spent three years studying acting at the prestigious School of Fine Arts at the University of Toronto, with the help of his father. He participated in the Stratford Festival for five years, performing in Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "Henry V," and Chekhov's "Three Sisters." McCormack has said that this period was a time of growth and development for him, transforming him from a young boy into a man. In 1990, after moving to Vancouver, McCormack's life changed as he began appearing in television series. However, he did not achieve true fame until the appearance of the show "Will & Grace."
