Eric von Detten, an American actor, has already proven at a young age that he is exceptionally talented and capable of playing a range of roles from comedy to drama, both in film and television. He was born on October 3, 1982, in San Diego, California, USA.

Early Life

Von Detten was born and raised in Southern California. His father immigrated to the USA from Munich, and in addition to Eric, he had three daughters. One day, one of his sisters took nine-year-old Eric to an audition. The agent who accompanied him noticed Eric from the first glance, and soon he received an offer to appear in the NBC show "Days of Our Lives," which he did for the next two years. The actor later referred to the show as a "training ground." After that, he went on to have a large and increasing number of television and film roles.

Currently, von Detten portrays Chris Savage, a good-natured and trusting 16-year-old protagonist in the ABC comedy series "Complete Savages," which airs nationally every Friday for 30 minutes. The series is created by NBC Universal Television, produced by Mel Gibson, and tells the story of a father raising five teenage sons on his own, depicting the challenging but interesting aspects of their lives. Before this, Eric regularly appeared in ABC series such as "Dinotopia" (2002), "Odd Man Out" (1999), and "So Weird" (1999, Disney Channel). He also made episodic appearances in "8 Simple Rules... for Dating My Teenage Daughter" (2002, ABC) and "ER" (1994, NBC channel; the episode in which von Detten appeared earned an Emmy). Additionally, he played the role of a young killer in "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1999).

Eric von Detten currently resides in Venice, USA. Besides acting, he is seriously involved in playing the piano, landscape photography, and yacht sailing. At the age of 12, he bought a yacht from 1969 and completely restored it with his own hands. In addition, the actor enjoys sushi, tourism, surfing, tennis, volleyball, and rollerblading.
