Emppu Vuorinen: The Virtuosic Guitarist of Nightwish
Early Life and Musical BeginningsEmppu Vuorinen, the renowned guitarist of Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish, embarked on his musical journey at the tender age of 12. His exceptional talent led him to participate in various bands, including Nightwish, where he has been a mainstay since its inception.
Nightwish: A Catalyst for Creativity
As a guitarist in Nightwish, Emppu's playing is characterized by his ability to execute unconventional guitar riffs originally composed for keyboards, thanks to the band's founder and keyboardist, Tuomas Holopainen. Vuorinen's diminutive stature, standing at around 165 centimeters, makes him an instantly recognizable figure on stage, where he is known for his energetic performances and generous distribution of guitar picks, often tossing them into the crowd during live shows.
Transition from Altaria to Nightwish
In January 2004, Vuorinen made the decision to leave Altaria in order to fully focus on his commitments with Nightwish. Initially, he utilized Washburn guitars in Nightwish's earlier albums, but has since switched to ESP guitars.
Embracing ESP Guitars
Currently, Emppu's guitar collection includes ESP Horizon and ESP EV-1 guitars (in purple and white, tuned to D and E respectively), as well as a black ESP Eclipse (tuned to D). The disappearance of his iconic purple guitar has sparked much speculation among fans.
