Early Life and Education
Ermek Amanshaev was born on October 19, 1955, in Almaty, Kazakhstan. In 1980, he graduated from the Faculty of History at the Kazakh State University named after S. Kirov.
Komsomol and Public Service
After graduating, Amanshaev began his career in Komsomol, the youth wing of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan. He worked as a secretary of the Komsomol committee at the Almaty Music School, head of the Culture Department of the Central Committee of the Komsomol, and instructor of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan.
Business Ventures
In the early 1990s, Amanshaev transitioned to the business sector. He served as deputy general director of the Fund for Cultural, Social, and Scientific-Technical Development of Kazakhstan, chairman of the board of Altyn-Alma JSC, and vice-president of the Bobeck Children's Charity Fund.
Media and Cultural Leadership
From 1998 to 2001, Amanshaev worked in the media industry as general director of the ART-Center production company and the Eurasia International Film Festival. In 2001-2002, he was chairman of the board of Republican Corporation Television and Radio Kazakhstan.
Government Service
In 2002, Amanshaev entered government service as head of the press service of the President of Kazakhstan. He later became head of the Department for Public Relations and Press in the Administration of the President. On September 29, 2004, he was appointed Minister of Culture, Information and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Other Roles and Awards
Amanshaev has also served as president of the Kazenergy public fund and chairman of the board of Rauan Media Group. He is a member of the board of the Atameken Union. In recognition of his contributions, he has received the Shapaqat Medal (1996).
