Israeli Politician and Economist
A prominent figure in Israeli politics, Orly Levy is an economist, settlement activist, and former Member of Knesset. Known for her outspoken views, she has been a member of the Yisrael Beiteinu party and played an active role in the settlement movement.
Early Career and Education
Levy earned a bachelor's degree in finance and accounting from Touro College. She also served as a major in the Israeli Army Reserve and was one of the founding members of the Yisrael Beiteinu party.
Parliamentary Service
In 2006, Levy was elected to the 17th Knesset as a member of the Yisrael Beiteinu faction. During her tenure, she served on various committees, including the Finance Committee and the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.
Settlement Activism
Throughout her career, Levy has been an ardent supporter of the Israeli settlement movement. She has advocated for the expansion of settlements in the West Bank and has opposed the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Controversy
In 2007, Levy became embroiled in a scandal when it was revealed that she had falsely claimed to have earned a second academic degree from Bar-Ilan University. This led to accusations of plagiarism and academic misconduct, tarnishing her reputation.

Despite the controversy, Levy continued to be active in Israeli politics. She ran unsuccessfully for mayor of Jerusalem in 2018 and has remained a prominent figure in the Yisrael Beiteinu party.
