Biography of Eteri Lamoris

Eteri Lamoris, a Spanish opera singer (soprano) of Georgian origin, was born in Kiev, despite her Georgian roots. She continues to spend a significant amount of time in Kiev, although Spain is her main country of residence.

Lamoris comes from a family with a long history in music. Her grandfather was the owner of a Georgian opera theater and was later executed on the orders of Stalin as a representative of the aristocracy. Her mother, Lamara Chkonia, also achieved considerable success as a folk artist in the USSR. Lamoris was born in Kiev and grew up there. Lamara Chkonia became her first teacher, recognizing her exceptional vocal abilities at a young age.

Lamoris made her debut on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. She continued her studies in Madrid at the Academy of Music, where she learned the secrets of vocal mastery. She furthered her education in Vienna under the guidance of renowned soprano Renata Scotto. Other mentors of Lamoris included Ruthilda Boesch and Dolores Ripolles.

Even in the early stages of her career, Lamoris performed at various music festivals and theaters. She had the opportunity to sing at the Verdi Opera Festivals in Italy, the Festival of Tours in France, the Haydn Festival in Austria, and the Koblenz Festival in Germany. At the age of 23, Lamoris was recognized as one of the top ten voices in the world at the Operalia World Opera Contest, where she also received the Public Prize, which she shared with tenor Jose Cura.

In 1994, Lamoris went on a concert tour with Plácido Domingo. She later signed a two-year contract with the Arriaga Theatre in Bilbao, where she performed alongside Marco Armiliato, Luis Lima, Denis Graves, and Vicente Sardinero. Lamoris has received nine major international awards to date, including seven first places. She has performed in France, Israel, Spain, Turkey, Austria, and Greece, sharing the stage with Daniel Barenboim, Vladimir Spivakov, Barbara Hendricks, and Yuri Bashmet.

Lamoris' performances have also been recorded on compact discs, and her exceptional roles have been included in opera aria collections by Berlin-based company "Beaux Records." Lamoris is married and has two children, a daughter studying in Madrid and a son who accompanies her husband on a business trip to Kiev.

Throughout her career, Lamoris has performed in opera theaters in Barcelona, Madrid, Naples, Turin, Nice, Vienna, Stockholm, Dusseldorf, Bonn, Nantes, Seville, Palm Beach, Bern, Venice, Trieste, Pittsburgh, Hannover, and many other cities.
