Business Endeavors and InnovationsAs an entrepreneur, Toshimichi Miyoshi is notable for his creation of the Walkin'Bag suitcase in 1996, a wheeled and expandable luggage design for which he received a government award in 2007.
In 2009, Miyoshi collaborated with the Higashikagaya Tourism Association to launch an annual doll exhibition, showcasing traditional costumes from around the world. The exhibition gained patronage from the Polish Minister of Culture and the Polish Ambassador to Japan in 2013. The collection has grown to include approximately 1500 dolls, with contributions from the Esperanto community.
Religious Devotion and Cultural Involvement
Miyoshi is a supporter and honorary member of the Oomoto religious movement, which advocates for the spread of Esperanto globally. He is also the vice-president of the Kabuki Children's Theater Association.
Esperanto Advocate
Miyoshi began studying Esperanto in 1995 and has since provided financial support to the Japanese Esperanto movement "La Cigno." He has served as the president of the Higashikagaya Esperanto Association since the same year.
In 2012, he established the eponymous foundation to promote Esperanto education and acquisition within the European Union. Between 2002 and 2010, Miyoshi placed Esperanto advertisements in prominent European Union publications, including Le Monde, for which he was awarded the Kenji Osaki Prize by the Esperanto Institute of Japan in 2007.
Miyoshi is a strong advocate for Esperanto as a facilitator of international communication, having firsthand experience in foreign language learning for his business ventures in Korea and China.
International Recognition and Honors
Since 2001, Miyoshi has held the position of director of the World Federalist Movement, supporting the introduction of Esperanto as a second language worldwide.
In recognition of his contributions to Polish culture and Esperanto, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, 5th Class, in 2011. In 2012, he organized a symposium and exhibition in the Polish Parliament commemorating the 125th anniversary of Esperanto.
