Her rise in the sport began when she was invited to the St. Petersburg School of the Olympic Reserve by coach Nikolai Bondarev.

At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, Medvedeva-Arbuzova shocked the world by capturing a bronze medal in the women's cross-country skiing event. Despite her surprise victory, Medvedeva credits the support of her husband, Alexey, who cheered her on from the sidelines.
Dedication to Coach
Tragically, Medvedeva's coach, Nikolai Bondarev, passed away in an accident the previous summer. She credits him with her success and dedicates her medal to his memory, expressing profound regret over his absence.
