Evangeline Lilly is an American actress born on August 3, 1979, in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada. She is best known for her role as Kate Austen in the ABC drama series "Lost".

Early Life
Evangeline Lilly was born in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada to a deeply religious Christian family. She spent her entire childhood without a television. Her father is an economics teacher and her mother is a cosmetic consultant. She also has two younger sisters. Before leaving Fort Saskatchewan at the age of ten, Evangeline attended three different schools.

At the age of 14, she began volunteering for organizations that help children. At 18, she joined a missionary group and lived in a grass hut in the Philippine jungle. During her time there, she traveled to fourteen different countries.
Career
Lilly started her career as a flight attendant for Air Canada and as a result, she is fluent in French. She was discovered by a manager from the renowned Ford modeling agency while walking on the streets of Kelowna, British Columbia. She signed a contract with the agency and moved to Vancouver, where she worked as a model to pay for her studies in international relations at the University of British Columbia.
Aside from acting, Lilly also has a passion for ice skating, canoeing, snowboarding, and rock climbing. She is actively involved in charity work and donates a portion of her earnings to various charitable foundations.
Personal Life
Evangeline Lilly was previously married to Canadian hockey player Murray Hone, but she fell in love with actor Dominic Monaghan, who played Charlie in the series "Lost", on the set of the show. In 2005, she officially divorced her husband and celebrated her engagement to Monaghan on the island where the series was filmed.
Lilly is also involved in the school program "Just Yell Fire", which aims to protect students against violence and assault.
